First brought to Spain by Christopher Columbus in 1493 they continued to be a rarity in Europe until well into the 17th century. Pineapples were a symbol of opulence and wealth, only adorning the banquet tables of the very rich.

In nature, each plant bears exactly one pineapple and takes two to three years before bearing fruit. Rarely seen in hand-blown glass, these elegantly crafted pineapples, however labor intensive, will not take nearly as long to cultivate for your enjoyment!
